Winston Churchill’s dentures saved the world!

Did you know that recently a set of Winston Churchill’s dentures were sold for£15,200 at an auction in Norfolk. Wow! In a bid to maintain the Wartime Prime Minister’s infamous lisp a dental technician was employed to make ill fitting dentures that did not quite connect with the top of his mouth. According to Jane Hughes, head of learning at the Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons in London, “These are the teeth that saved the world.”  Hughes said Churchill had many problems with his teeth as a child and probably lost some of them quite early. Apparently, he valued his dentist’s skills so much that he nominated him for a knighthood. Can you believe it? I wonder what Churchill would make of the advances in modern dentistry today? I am sure that dental implants would have been his first choice. Perhaps, he would have enjoyed visiting us all at White for a free consultation to discover how he could have a full smile make over, followed by advanced Zoom tooth whitening.  Would Ben White have been nominated for a knighthood? The answer to that has to be yes, not that i am biased!
